It was the visitors who made the positive start to the game with an early attack down the right flank forcing Wroxham to concede an early corner, which Fullbrook in the Wroxham goal punched the ball out for another. This time the ball was blocked by Strauss before being cleared.
The first real attack from the hosts came from a King’s Lynn free-kick which was blocked by the wall and a quick break saw Birchall feed Holloway but her shot was saved by the away keeper.
Moments later King’s Lynn took the lead. A speculative shot from around 35 yards out sailing into the goal. This was followed by another long shot from the visitors after Wroxham conceded a free-kick which was comfortably saved by Fullbrook.
At this point in the game Wroxham were struggling to mount attacks, but Cantwell put Holloway away in a rare attack and Walker was just unable to get on the end of a dangerous ball into the goal area, before Birchall robbed a defender of the ball to pick out Cantwell whose shot was saved.
Just before the half hour mark, Lynn doubled their lead. Meers clearing a dangerous attack, the ball deflects to a Lynn player who pumps the ball high in the air over Fullbrook and bounce into the roof of the goal.
Stunned by this, the home side pushed forward looking to reduce the deficit. Birchall running at the Lynn defence was on the end of a couple of rash challenges and the second free-kick led to a goal. Birchall planting a thumping header past the keeper from a free-kick to the near post, as Lynn took a 2-1 lead into the break.
The second half started with the hosts on the front foot. Cantwell had two efforts which were narrowly off target and Birchall had a shot which was well saved.
All the attacks were coming from the home side with Russell and Scully starting to control the midfield. Winning the ball in the centre of the park, it is fed to Walker on the left who moves forward and shoots but her effort hits the side netting.
The pressure from the home side pays off with an hour to go with an equaliser. Cantwell was brought down and from Strauss’s free-kick, the ball eventually falls to Birchall to score her second of the game.
It was all one-way traffic now, the home side pushing forward at every opportunity. Cantwell and Birchall both had efforts just wide, before Holloway and Bullard combined to feed Cantwell who scored from close range, to put Wroxham ahead for the first time in the game.
Five minutes later, Wroxham doubled their lead. Pressure from the hosts front line saw the away side lose possession and Birchall forced a good save from the keeper before firing home the rebound with 4 minutes remaining.
In added time, a long ball to Birchall sees her draw the keeper out and unselfishly squares the ball for Bullard to score for a 5-2 score line and make it 3 wins out of 3 for the hosts.
