As with any other season there are arrivals and departures and the hosts starting line-up included new signings Parker, Strauss and Cantwell, with Walker securing a place on the bench.

It was an even start to the first half, Beevor comfortably collecting a long shot from the visitors before Cantwell had a shot narrowly past the post at the other end.

The home side saw majority of the play as the half progressed and newly installed captain Birchall saw a shot palmed past the post by the visiting keeper, before a shot from the ensuing corner was blocked with the follow-up saved by the keeper.

However, Luton were dangerous on counterattacks and one such move saw Parker forced to concede a corner. From the set-piece, a powerful header put the visitors ahead.

After the half hour mark, Wroxham made two changes bring on Cooper and Walker and shortly afterwards almost scored an equaliser. From a corner the ball was headed off the line before the rebound was tipped over the bar by the keeper.

The hosts continued to push forward and a ball through the centre found Birchall who slotted past the keeper to level the score, before Parker saw an effort narrowly wide of the post minutes later.

As the game went into added time at the end of the first half, the hosts deservedly took a 2-1 lead. Birchall receiving a ball across the penalty area controlled and shot past the keeper to the applause of the home spectators.

Within 5 minutes of the start of the second half, Birchall completed her hat-trick. Cutting in from the left flank she rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner, before the visitors chance of getting anything out of the game became harder when their captain was sent off for a reckless challenge on Birchall 2 minutes later.

With an hour played, Luton were suddenly back in the game after a poor clearance presented an easy chance to reduce the game to a one goal deficit. This spurred the side on and for the next 15 minutes Luton had their best spell of the game so far.

Slowly the home side began to exert their authority again and with 10 minutes remaining thought they had restored their 2-goal cushion. Parker’s shot was tipped on to the post and Cantwell following up scored the rebound, however, the assistant referee had flagged for offside against Cantwell.

Cooper, Squire and Bullard were denied by the keeper in the closing stages and there were loud appeals for a penalty from Wroxham after Cantwell was brought down in the area, but the referee waved play on. At the other end a free-kick from Luton was headed just over the bar.

Deep into added time, Wroxham secured all three points when Birchall drawing the keeper out played a square ball to Bullard to slot home and give the hosts a 4-2 victory.
