It was an end to end affair during the early stages on the game. The visitors conceded a free-kick 25 yards out from goal, but the hosts were unable to get on the end of the floated set-piece, whilst a quick break by Bowers was cut out by Horn.
The home side started to apply the pressure on the visitors with Rowland’s free-kick being cleared for a corner, then Birchall was questionably given offside from a corner which was half cleared.
Bowers attacks were mainly being focused on long balls through the centre and Horn racing back made a goal-line clearance from one such move; however, a similar attack gave the visitors the lead with the home defence being caught square and the striker lobbing the ball past Fullbrook in the Wroxham goal.
Stunned by this reverse, Cossey twice saw shots saved by the away keeper and Horn had an attempt just wide of the target from a Holloway corner. Russell then played Birchall through on goal, but the Wroxham forward was adjudged offside although running past the defender.
Cossey was always looking a threat down the right flank and on cutting past her marker went down after a challenge from a defender. Despite loud appeals for a penalty, the referee awarded a goal-kick.
A poor clearance from Wroxham saw a shot from Bowers tipped over the bar, before a short corner put into the goal area resulted in an attacker nudging the ball past Fullbrook to give the visitors a 2 -0 lead at half-time.
The hosts made two changes before the start of the second half. Prentice making her league debut in place of Fullbrook and Love replaced Shields.
Love was straight into the action with a shot into the side netting from a tight angle, then put Cossey away, whose shot was just wide of the target.
Most of the pressure was being applied by the home side and Love saw the keeper push a low shot past the post from a corner, before sending in a cross which was palmed away, however Cossey was on hand to fire home the loose ball to reduce the deficit.
Within 5 minutes, Bowers had regained their two-goal cushion. From a corner, the home side failed to clear and the ball was fired past a diving Prentice. Almost straight afterwards, Rowland was sin-binned for 10 minutes.
The home side fought back with 13 minutes remaining, when Birchall squared the ball to Love who blasted the ball into the goal from 35 yards and then completed her brace 5 minutes later, converting Cossey’s lay back to make a 3-3 scoreline.
Only a fine save by Prentice prevented Bowers from regaining the lead, after the home side lost possession after playing the ball across their own penalty area.
However, the remarkable comeback from the home side was completed with 2 minutes remaining, Birchall latching on to a through ball past the away defence and slotting the ball past the keeper to secure all 3 points for Wroxham in their league opener.
