Manager Simpson made three changes to the starting line-up from last week’s defeat with Connell, Codman and Russell starting replacing O’Neil and Densley unavailable, with Bullard dropping to the bench.
It was not the start Wroxham want with the hosts scoring in the opening minute. An attack down the right flank saw the visitors concede a corner and from the set piece the ball was forced home,
Stunned by the reverse, Wroxham pushed forward and a through ball to Waters by thwarted by quick thinking by the keeper, before the equaliser minutes later. Good play between Olive and Walker saw the ball played to Waters who turned the defender and rounded the keeper to level the score.
The Yachtswomen continued to apply pressure on the home defence and both Connell and Olive had shots saved by the home keeper. At the other end, a quick break by Colney ended with a shot just over the bar.
On 25 minutes the visitors deservedly took the lead. Playing good football, a flowing move down the left flank saw Walker and Waters involved, the latter providing the past to Connell to convert for a 2-1 lead to Wroxham.
Play was becoming stretched as the game approached the break and only a fine goalline clearance from Horn after a goalmouth scramble prevented Colney going into half-time level.
The home side quickly levelled the score after the break with a move down the right flank and the striker cut inside to score placing the ball into the far side of the goal.
However, within 5 minutes, the Yachtswomen had regained the lead. From a corner the ball was not cleared and Olive was on hand to head the ball home.
Wroxham were now on top and looking dangerous pushing forward. A long ball from Walker to Waters saw the Wroxham striker harshly adjudged to have fouled a defender, but the pressure paid off minutes later when Colney were forced to concede a corner. From Walker’s corner the ball fell to Connell who fired into the top corner to give the Yachtswomen a 4-2 lead.
The visitors were forced to reshuffle their side with around 15 minutes remaining with Horn coming off injured and Forshaw moving back to centre-back, who was straight into action with two powerful headers clear for corners into the goal area.
A quick break from Colney reduced the deficit with 9 minutes remaining, the striker firing into the top corner leaving Lightfoot in the Wroxham goal no chance to save it.
Deep into added time, a break from Colney saw the striker go one on one with Lightfoot and an excellent save by the Wroxham keeper stopped the hosts from snatching a point from the game.
