New signing Hannah Waters went straight into the starting line-up and there were returns for Lauren Bullard and Holly Walker who had both missed the last two games due to vacations.
It was the visitors who took a shock first minute lead. Gaining possession on the left flank, the ball was played inside and a long shot from 30 yards sailed into the top corner.
However, the lead only last 2 minutes. From a short corner, the ball was played back to Walker whose cross headed home by captain Horn for her second goal in as many games.
The game was very open from the start and Bedford were thwarted by an excellent covering tackle by Robson, whilst at the other end, Overton’s cross was laid back by Bullard to Waters whose effort was just over the bar.
As the half progressed, the Yachtswomen were enjoying a territorial advantage, which saw Waters head narrowly wide before a Walker cross saw the away keeper concede a corner.
Two goals in as many minutes five minutes before half time put the hosts firmly in control. A through ball from Horn, saw Connell outpace a defender and slide the ball past the advancing keeper. A minute later, Walker sent a long ball upfield and Waters used her pace to beat the defender and round the keeper to put the ball into an empty net, to give Wroxham a 3-1 lead at half-time.
Within 5 minutes of the restart, the Yachtswomen increased their lead. Connell picking up the ball just inside the Bedford half, moved unchallenged into the visitors’ box before passing to unmarked Bullard who slid the ball underneath the keeper for Wroxham’s fourth.
The hosts continued to push forward and only the keepers legs stopped Waters scoring her second with the ball being deflected for a corner, which was comfortably cleared.
On the hour mark, the visitors forced a succession of corner, but each time Horn and Robson rose high with clearing headers.
With the game under control by the hosts, Manager Simpson was able to ring the changes and use his full bench and it was two of the substitutes who combined to score Wroxham’s fifth goal. Copland putting the keeper under pressure, whose clearance went straight to Olive, who fire a first time shot into the corner of the goal.
The hosts comfortably ran down the remaining minutes without any danger to seal a well deserved 5-1 victory.
