Yachtswomen advance to League Cup Quarter Final

Yachtswomen advance to League Cup Quarter Final

Richard Giles

The Yachtswomen secured their quarter final berth in the League Cup after a comfortable 3-0 victory against Costessey Sports.

Wroxham dominated the early stages and deservedly took the lead after 11 minutes. Poppy Loveland sent a long ball to Maddie Green who crossed from the by-line, which found Kathryn Stanley who fired hame past the keeper.

Gabrielle De Suza was causing havoc down the left flank and after beating a couple defenders cut inside and shot only to see the ball hit the bar and go over.

Wroxham doubled their lead on 27 minutes, when a ball through midfield found Lauren Bullard whose pin-point pass to Hannah Fuller was slotted past the keeper.

The hosts had appeals for a definite penalty turned down after De Suza was felled in the box after waltzing past three defenders as Wroxham went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Wroxham were fast out of the blocks in the second half and extended their lead in the 47th minute. A cross fired into the net by Holly Prytherch for her first goal for the club.
Only some good saves and poor finishing prevented the Yachtswomen from increasing their lead as Wroxham booked their quarter-final game against Brentwood Town on 29th November at the Ginger Pickle Arena.
