Wroxham first team trio Jordan Southgate , Adam Drury and Darren Plowman-Read have agreed deals to stay at the club until at least the end of the 2022/23 season in an ambitious move by the Norfolk Broads based club. The deal ties all three to the club for the next two full seasons with clear targets for progressing the club on and off the pitch, including a tilt at promotion back to the Isthmian League.

Former reserve team manager and player Southgate stepped up to the role and was joined by Norwich city legend Adam Drury in May 2018 and recently competed 100 games in the dugout. Goalkeeping coach Plowman Read joined in 2020 following the departure of Martin Newson to Dereham Town. Drury and Southgate recently completed 100 games in charge club with a 10-game winning streak which left the club top of the Thurlow Nunn Premier division before it was curtailed by the recent lockdown. Last season they led the club to the FA Vase quarter final and Norfolk senior cup semi-final.
Club Chairman Lee Robson was delighted to agree the deal with the trio; “This is fabulous news and a clear statement of intent to have a crack at the Thurlow Nunn league when we return in August. Jordan and Adam have done brilliantly since they got here and Darren is one of the best GK coaches around. We chatted about how we saw the future and we were more than happy to commit to the club for the next couple of years to demonstrate that we mean business and to give some stability to the supporters and our current players. It also means that we can be a good proposition during our recruitment for the new season”.
Southgate was also delighted to sign on the dotted line “I’ve been at the club for almost ten years as senior player and we’ve been slowly rebuilding the reputation of the club, its style of play and getting some fun back alongside the serious stuff we have to do. We’ve made steady progress rather than spectacular, but we have laid firm foundations to challenge on all fronts this coming season and beyond.
Mark Roe stays on as reserve team manager and Rebecca Burton also stays as Women’s manager to complete an impressive quintet in charge of senior football at the club.
