Yachtsmen sail on to Carrow Road

Yachtsmen sail on to Carrow Road

Paul Jeater2 May - 05:19

Up for the Cup !

When Jordan Southgate returned to Wroxham as manager last December, he set two targets: To keep the club in Step 4 by avoiding relegation from the Isthmian League North and to reach the Norfolk Senior Cup final.

Last Saturday , a home draw against Play Off finalists Bury Town accomplished the first target with Wroxham ending the season in 17th place in the league. On Sunday the Yachtsmen will step onto the pitch at Carrow Road aiming to complete the second target.

On their way to the final Wroxham have defeated Watton, Kings Lynn Under 23s and Mulbarton Wanderers. On Sunday Wroxham face Norwich City Under 21s on what might be considered to be their opponents home turf.

Commenting on Sunday’s game Jordan Southgate said:
“I’m looking forward to the game. The players can now play without the pressure they have faced throughout the season. They along with our volunteers and supporters can enjoy the occasion at the end of a long season.”

The Norfolk Senior Cup dates back to 1881. Sunday’s final will be the Yachtsmen’s first appearance since they took the trophy back to Wroxham in 2015.

Club Captain Jordan King added: “As players we get the chance to play at Carrow Road. It’s our chance to give our supporters a day they will never forget.”

Sunday’s final kicks off at 2.30pm
All tickets must be purchased in advance at www.ticketsource.com/ncfa
No turnstiles will be open selling tickets on Sunday.
