The Yachtsman put in another impressive performance to see off Norfolk rivals, Swaffham Town as their ran out 5-0 winners at Shoemakers Lane, writes Adrian Gowling.
Wroxham lined up with Ollie Sutton in goal, a young defence of Chris Skipper, Tom Huckerby, Ollie Yun and Travis Dosworth. In midfield was Shaun Taylor, Brad Spooner, Harley Black and Jordan King whilst Joe Taylor and Ryan Miles looked to produce the firepower in front of goal. On the substitutes bench were Wyatt Hill, Ryan Curtis, Simon Lappin, George Couzens and Harry Sutton provided goalkeeper cover.
The game started at a lively pace and although it wasn't as quick a start as the previous Saturday, the Yachtsmen went ahead in the 4th minute. And it was Saturday's hero Ryan Miles who was on the scoresheet again. There was a touch of good fortune to the goal. A ball down the left appeared to have gone out of play but the referee's assistant disagreed and play continue much to the displeasure of the Swaffham management team. Shaun Taylor worked the ball across to Ryan Miles at the edge of the penalty area and his low shot past Dan Smith found the back of the net to make it 1-0.
The goal gave the Yachtsmen more confidence as they were playing down the slope and a curling shot from Brad Spooner was just wide whilst Ollie Yun went even closer as he hit the post from 30 yards.
Swaffham had their first real opportunity but Callum Cox's shot was weak and an easy collect by Ollie Sutton.
It was not a question of would the Yachtsmen get on the scoresheet again but when. A long ball by Tom Huckerby was collected by Joe Taylor. The powerful attacker bustled into the area but his low shot was saved by Smith.
Harley Black was next to try from distance after good work by Shaun Taylor but his shot was just the wrong side of the post.
Swaffham were finding it difficult to get to grips with Joe Taylor and he was unfortunate not to score. Having nicked the ball away from a defender and the keeper, he saw saw his shot cleared away by a covering defender from the goal-line.
Persistence and hard work eventually paid off as Joe Taylor doubled the score in the 27th minute. The move started at the back with Chris Skipper who played a great ball forward to Brad Spooner. The midfielder worked it through to Taylor and he finished with a cheeky chip over the outrushing Smith.
After the half-time break, Wroxham again were the quickest out the blocks and a mazy run and cross by Ollie Yun didn't get the finish it deserved as the Pedlars defence eventually cleared. Two minutes later, Ryan Miles was unlucky not to have his second of the night when he headed Black's cross against the base of the post.
Swaffham made a change in personnel and this almost paid dividends. A corner from the right was met with a Pedlar's head but the direction was poor and it was wide of the goal.
Wroxham's corner was much more productive as Tom Huckerby was on hand to score the Yachtsmen's third of the night. A corner on the right was played back out to Harley Black and his pinpoint cross was powered into the net by Huckerby's head.
With all the possession of the ball, Wroxham were threatening to make it four. A quick throw out by Sutton found Ryan Miles. He ran at pace towards the Swaffham goal but unfortunately he saw his shot beat Smith but rebound to the keeper off the upright.
To freshen the game up and allow some players to have a breather, Jordan Southgate brought on Ryan Curtis, Wyatt Hill and Simon Lappin for Joe Taylor, Ollie Yun and Jordan King.
Swaffham must have hoped that this was going to weaken the Yachtsmen attack but it only allowed others to take up the reins. In the 67th minute, Ryan Miles scored his sixth goal in two games. He made a powerful run down the left and unleashed an unstoppable drive into the far corner of the net much to the delight of the travelling Blue Wave.
Having witnessed the first hour of the game from the bench, Ryan Curtis wanted to become part of the goalscoring action. It took him just 6 minutes as he stole the ball off the Swaffham player, advancing with determination he found the back of the net as Smith's dive was in vain.
The remainder of the game was a lesson in keeping moving the ball and not allowing their opponents to get near. The final whistle brought cheers as the Yachtsmen kept their first clean sheet of the season but also their 17th and 21st goals of the campaign.
Wroxham now travel to league newcomers Lakenheath on Saturday with the aim of building upon their 100% league record and more goals to cement their position at the top of the league.
