Wroxham will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday as they travel the 160-mile round trip to Witham Town in the Isthmian League First Division North.

A run of five successive wins was ended on Tuesday night, in front of 361 spectators, by Gorleston, who left the Ginger Pickle Arena with all three points following a 2-0 success thanks to goals by former Yachtsmen Ryan Curtis and Harley Black.

Ahead of the Gorleston fixture, manager Jordan Southgate was able to field an unchanged line-up for the first time this season.

The performance on Tuesday was good, and, on another day, Wroxham may well have got something from the game. Gorleston goalkeeper, Antoni Bort was in fine form, and Ryan Gray saw an effort strike the woodwork.

Witham Town started the league season with two consecutive wins but have lost the last three and were comprehensively beaten 5-0 away at Cambridge City in midweek with former Wroxham full-back Charlie Norman on the scoresheet.

They sit in the bottom four of the early season table but regardless of all else, they will pose a threat to Wroxham with prolific striker Sam Bantick leading the line.

Despite his red card against Gorleston, Sammy Johnson will be available and Wroxham travel knowing a win will take them to the top of the table ahead of Tuesday’s visit to Redbridge to play Hashtag United who themselves are in FA Trophy action this weekend.

In the corresponding fixture last season, Wroxham came out on top, winning 3-2, despite going behind twice – to two Bantick goals.

With just ten minutes left, Asa McGeachy equalised to make it 2-2 and two minutes later, Ethan Flack bagged his first goal for the Yachtsmen to seal the win.

A similar outcome this time around will be more than welcome.
