Wroxham put Saturday’s disappointing FA Trophy exit behind them yesterday when they absolutely annihilated Suffolk rivals, Lowestoft Town in front of 508 fans, the Isthmian League Division One North highest attendance of the day.

The Yachtsmen welcomed back Josh Hazell and gave a full debut to Rio Ward with Charlie Moore and Lucas Poll dropping to the bench.

It took just three minutes to open the scoring when Sammy Johnson calmly finished after being put through by Jordan King. Within the next ten minutes, Johnson had completed his hat-trick with two more excellent finishes. His second of the game came after some excellent work by the impressive Lucas Densley and he was afforded all the space he needed after 13 minutes to ensure he was taking home the match ball.

With Wroxham showing no mercy, Ryan Hawkins went close but saw the feet of the Lowestoft ‘keeper deny him. The visitors tried their luck from distance after half an hour but failed to trouble Tom Coombe. It was 4-0 six minutes later when Lucas Densley’s quick feet ensured he had enough room to curl an effort in to the far corner for his third of the season.

In the final minute of first half stoppage time, Ashton Blogg headed home a corner from the right to reduce the arrears.

Shaun Taylor departed the scene at half time and was replaced in the midfield by Harry Sparrow. Coombe was on hand to deal with an effort from a corner and a minute later, Hawkins saw his effort flash wide after good work by Sparrow.

As Woxham chased a fifth, Ryan John advanced on goal but was unable to get a shot away. Hat-trick hero Johnson made way for Isaac Jobling on 75 minutes and just four minutes later, the fifth goal arrived. Louis Simmons, on as a substitute, was put clean through and tapped the ball into an empty net after rounding the keeper for his first senior goal.

Three minutes later, Hawkins’ got his reward for a brilliant display when his tidy finish from close range gave him his first of the season. Soon after, one last blow of the referee’s whistle brought an end to a brutal demolition of a club who not that long ago were competing in the National League North.
