The first pre-season fixture took place in the unusual setting of Norwich City’s ‘The Nest’.on a hot and humid afternoon, players from both clubs shook off the cobwebs and produced an entertaining game for a shirt sleeve crowd of around a hundred.

Manager , Jordan Southgate had a squad of experienced players from last season’s squad, new summer signings and a number of last season’s young reserve side.

Although Sheringham took an early lead, the Yachtsmen were soon level when new signing from Lowestoft , Josh Harvey fired home from inside the penalty area. The Yachtsmen were then awarded a penalty and Harvey took the ball and planted it past the diving keeper. In fact only resolute defending denied him a first half hat trick.

The second half was a more disjointed affair, as both managers made a number of substitutions, to ensure all available players saw some action. Manager Jordan Southgate will be happy not only with the result but also the performance of his new signings.

The next outing is next Tuesday ( July 11th) when Wroxham travel down the A11 to play Newmarket Town with a 7.30pm kick off
