forming the wider coaching and support staff, ahead of the 22/23 season. And joining Joe in the dugout will be some familiar faces!
Firstly, we are pleased to confirm that former Manager Rebecca Burton has returned to the club, having agreed to support Joe in the role of Assistant Manager this season. Bex is a UEFA B Coach and also possesses the FA Youth Award and a BSc (Hons) in Physical Education & Sport.
Michelle Stewart will be continuing her valuable work in supporting players and staff as Women’s Senior Team Coach. Shell is a qualified First Aider and an experienced coach within female football having been the previous manager of King’s Lynn Town Ladies, and Assistant Manager for Wroxham Women last season.
The Yachtswomen will also heavily benefit from a new face in Charlotte Rose (Bsc, PT, SMT) who joins the staff as the team’s Strength & Conditioning Coach. Charlotte has a BSc (Hons) in Sports Coaching and Physical Education, and is a fully qualified Sports Massage Therapist and Personal Trainer.
We’re also pleased to confirm that Goalkeeper Cyan Fullbrook has stepped into a player/coach role for the upcoming campaign as she takes the lead on goalkeeping training and development.
No team would be able to run effectively without a group of dedicated off-pitch volunteers and we are pleased to confirm a great network supporting our women’s team this season.
Team stalwart, Richard Giles continues as the Women’s Team Secretary and will lead on Team Operations, while Kerry Horn will continue to liaise closely with our CWO Lisa Hamilton as she resumes her position as Women’s Welfare Officer.
In a new role, former Captain Kate Pasque will lead on the Female Pathway & Partnerships this season, working closely with Bure Valley FC and other team partners. And finally, newly confirmed Assistant Manager Rebecca Burton will also lead on Women’s Team Marketing.
Manager, Joe Simpson said: “Once I knew I was going to become Manager, I was very clear about who I wanted to make up my backroom team. Bex was always an obvious choice, she has Wroxham at heart and offers a lot as both a Coach, and as a trusted friend to bounce ideas off. We’ve always worked well together, so despite her wishes to leave it was always going to be my first mission to bring her back.
“I’ve worked with Charlotte at previous clubs, going back to my Wisbech St Mary days, and I’m grateful that she’s followed me everywhere I’ve gone since. She’s great at what she does and has a lot of knowledge in areas that are becoming more and more important in the game. She’s a great character and someone that will add to the backroom team and the dressing room as a whole.
“Shell and myself also go back a long way, she was King’s Lynn Manager when I took my first steps into women’s football and has been a good friend ever since. I really value her opinion and she’s someone who’s driven, hard working and offers a different dimension to the backroom staff.
“Having spoken with Cyan at the start of pre-season, I’m delighted that she’s agreed to develop as a coach and lead on goalkeeping for us this season. She’s a brilliant character and while I’m looking at her to support the next generation of GK’s, for now I also expect her to be pushing to play too!
“With these guys behind me as well as the hugely valuable support network of Richard, Kerry and Kate; I’m sure that we have a team that’s really going to help this group of players flourish, develop and push forward. You’re only as good as those around you and I’m really lucky with the team I have behind me.”
The Women’s Team are on the lookout for additional fundraising support this season in order to purchase new kit and equipment. If you are a business or individual interested in sponsorship for the 22/23 season, please email WroxhamWomen@gmail.com.
