Wroxham FC welcome three new signings in a busy day of activity at the Ginger Pickle Arena.
Attacking midfielder Sam Johnson joins from Lowestoft. The former Norwich City and Oxford United player arrives with a season of step 3 experience behind him. Commenting on signing for Wroxham, Johnson said:
"I’m absolutely delighted to sign for Wroxham and can’t wait to get started. Although I must thank Lowestoft Town FC for an amazing four years, for personal and football development reasons, I felt a change was needed. After my conversations with Jordy, and having worked with him before, despite other interest and offers, I’m really excited for this new chapter to start with Wroxham. Ahoy!"
Charlie Norman is another arrival from Lowestoft with the full back following Johnson in through the door at Trafford Park. Speaking about signing for Wroxham, Norman said: "I’m excited to be back at the Club that gave me my first opportunity 10 years ago . Speaking to Jordy, I loved the ambition he spoke about to take Wroxham to the next level."
Josh Hazell needs no introduction to the Wroxham faithful, the commanding centre back having had a very successful spell at Trafford Park previously. Hazell said: "I am really looking forward to going back to my old club! The past few months have been difficult for me personally, dealing with two surgery’s involving my knee, that I’m currently recovering from. With the support and commitment from the staff and Jord, I've been given a platform to get back playing again. I look forward to beginning my rehab as soon as possible. Personally I can’t wait to get back playing again and kicking a ball. I'm ready to help Wroxham push on."
Jordan Southgate was excited by his new signings: "I am delighted to welcome Charlie Norman, Josh Hazel, and Sam Johnson to the football club. All three are players I’ve had the pleasure of working with previously and each brings immense quality both on and off the pitch. These are real marquee signings that underline our intent this season. Importantly, they’re all proven winners at this level, having lifted this league’s title in recent campaigns.
That makes it six signings this summer - alongside Liam, James, and Ryan - adding to a large part of last season’s squad that we’ve retained. We’re in a really exciting position as we approach the new season and I can’t wait to see how this talented group comes together."
