A brace from Ryan Hawkins, his 59th and 60th goals for the club, was not enough as Wroxham were beaten 3-2 away at the Len Salmon stadium
There was one change from last week with Jordan King returning to the side and young Alfie Lees was called into the match day squad for only the second time.
The first 20 minutes brought little in the way of chances with the home side having the majority of possession.
After 28 minutes, Wroxham broke clear with Lucas Densley and Sammy Johnson linking up well but Johnson’s cross was gathered by Samuel Nwabuko in the Bowers goal.
A minute later, Josh Hazell fired wide following Johnson’s free kick but the opening goal was moments away.
On the half hour, Nwabuko attempted to clear his lines, under pressure from Hawkins.
The ‘keeper lost his balance and his boot and Wroxham’s number nine turned and smashed the ball into an empty net.
Within 12 minutes, the hosts were back on level terms. A cross from the left was met by Ethan Cann who headed past Luke Holt.
Within 60 seconds, the Bowers captain, Chris Millar saw a strike from distance deflected wide.
Lucas Densley was booked after conceding a free kick which Kojo Apanteng fired past Holt from 25 yards to give his side a half time lead.
Holt saved smartly with his feet within a minute of the restart and from then on, Wroxham started to get a hold of the game.
Densley went close after 50 minutes and just after Ryan John was booked, Ryan Gray was introduced in place of Shaun Taylor.
After 63 minutes, the Yachtsmen were level when Hawkins scored again, glancing home a Josh Hazell cross from the right hand side.
Unfortunately, Wroxham weren’t on level terms for long. After Finlay Dorrell, on as a sub, kept the ball in play, he squared to Manny Shana who was brought down in the box. It was Dorrell who stepped up to send Holt the wrong way.
With Southgate’s men chasing an equaliser, Nawabuko denied Hawkins at his near post and an effort from Gray cleared the cross bar.
Charlie Moore, Lees and Ryan Forbes were brought on and in the final moments, Wroxham won a corner.
Holt, who had raced the length of the field, was inches away from getting his head to Johnson’s delivery and after Hazell whistled a shot over the bar, the referee blew his whistle to bring the game to an end.
Attentions now turn to another away game with a visit to Felixstowe & Walton United on Tuesday night.
