Busy week for the Yachtsmen

Getting ready for Cup action

Tuesday night at the Ginger Pickle Arena at Trafford Park sees the last game in Wroxham’s pre- season programme with the visit of Leiston.

The Suffolk club playing in the Southern League Premier Central division are a Step 3 team with ambitions to progress further up the non league period. Leiston will provide strong opposition for a Yachtsmen squad that has been reinforced during the close season by manager, Jordan Southgate.

Leiston’s squad has a number of players who have worn the blue and white stripes of Wroxham during their careers. The visit will probably see the return to the Ginger Pickle Arena of two players who particularly excelled during their time there. Goalkeeper Billy Johnson excelled during a loan spell with Wroxham during the 2023-24 season and Joao Rangel, who joined Leiston from Lowestoft Town during the close season, featured prominently for the Yachtsmen in the first half of the 2024-25 season. Rangel’s who represented Timor-Leste in international football earlier this year, will be a good test for the Wroxham defence.

The Wroxham squad has been strengthen by the arrival of Charlie Norman & Sam Johnson from Lowestoft and strikers Liam Jackson and James Moore from Thurlow Nunn clubs.

Tuesday’s game will be preparation for the Yachtsmen’s FA Cup extra preliminary round tie away to Fakenham Town this coming Saturday (Kick Off 3pm ). Further news and information on this game will appear later this week.
