Following Tuesday night’s impressive win away at Canvey Island, Wroxham return to home soil for the visit of Grays Athletic.

The Isthmian League table shows The Yachtsmen in second place, having won four on the bounce since losing at Takeley on the opening day of the season and the midweek win by the sea side was a real statement.

Canvey, relegated from Step three last season, recently appointed Kevin Horlock as manager but his side were beaten by a stunning strike from Ryan Hawkins who scored for the third game running, and it could’ve been more with Kieran Money and Lucas Densley both hitting the woodwork.

Manager, Jordan Southgate couldn’t hide his delight at the final whistle: “I thought we were outstanding and it was a performance I certainly enjoyed. We came with a game plan; the players took it on board and executed it perfectly. We created some excellent chances, defended well, put bodies on the line and to get three points against one of the league favourites will make the long journey home well worth it”.

Grays will present another stern test for Wroxham. The two sides drew 1-1 at the Ginger Pickle Arena last season with the visitors equalising in the dying minutes.

Having beaten Redbridge last time out thanks to a late Oliver Muldoon goal, the Blues travel to Norfolk tomorrow full of confidence for the 3pm kick off.
