We are delighted to announce that Joe Simpson has been appointed as the new Manager of the Women’s Senior Team.

A well-known name in local football, Joe brings a wealth of experience to the role, and having been involved with the club previously, understands the philosophy and DNA of Wroxham FC.

His playing career started in grassroots football before going into King's Lynn's Academy set up at 16. He then had spells at Norwich City, New York Red Bulls, King's Lynn Town, Fakenham Town & Wisbech St Mary. After two serious injuries, Joe turned toward Coaching as a full-time career.

Joe's coaching career began when he left school, gaining experiences both in the men’s & women’s game at various clubs & academies. He was appointed Manager of Wisbech St Mary at just 22 and at the time was the youngest manager in the country within the top ten tiers of English Football.

He previously enjoyed a spell at Wroxham assisting former Manager Rebecca Burton, before taking a full-time role at King’s Lynn Town which involved leading the Academy set up, supporting the Men’s Seniors, and Managing the Women’s team, which he guided through promotion to the ERWFL Premier Division. Under the tutelage of Ian Culverhouse and following him from Lynn to Kettering Town, Joe has spent the last two seasons coaching at Step 1 and 2 of the Men’s National League system.

With great experience, Joe has also worked hard to achieve many qualifications during his career to date. He currently holds the UEFA B License, FA Youth Award, FA Talent ID and is currently working towards the UEFA B Goalkeeping License. He now works as Foundation Phase Development Manager for Norwich City FC’s Community Sports Foundation.

Chairman Lee Robson said: “I’m delighted to have landed Joe. Like Jordan (Southgate) he’s a fabulous coach and impressive young man and will add real value to the way we want to develop the Wroxham women’s team and female football at the club. We interviewed some impressive candidates and I wish they could all join us but Joe’s right for us right now, and I think we’re right for him. I’m looking forward to the new season already.”

Speaking of his excitement at taking on the role Simpson said: “I’m delighted to have been offered the role as Manager of the Women’s Senior Team here at Wroxham Football Club, it’s a really exciting project and I can’t wait to get started. There’s a lot of positivity around the club at the moment and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead.

“Me and the backroom staff I’ve brought in have been working behind the scenes and I’ve got no doubt that we can push this team forward. With the talented group of players we’re putting together, the brilliant volunteers at the club, and the support of the Chairman and men’s sides; we will be a competitive outfit and will endeavour to provide an environment for players to thrive.”

We wish Joe all the best for the upcoming season. Further details regarding the Women’s 22/23 coaching and playing staff, as well as fixtures, will be announced shortly.
